There are seven girls who are what is known as the Closet Keepers. In each of their closets, they protect and house different versions of their favorite characters. I say different versions because each character they house is only their interpretation of the character, not the real character themselves. For example, in my character's closet, there is Eowyn #13, who is the Eowyn we find in the Grima/Eowyn fandom. Another Keeper has Eowyn #27, who is the Eowyn we find in Faramir/Eowyn pairings. Basically, said Closet Keepers protect all these various characters from a villain named Law N. Order, who is the hired thug of the original book/movie/game/etc characters because they don't like having more than one version of themselves running about. Basically, Law's job is to destroy all the different interpretations of each character, because according to the original characters' beliefs, there can only be a single, totally canon version of each character. As long as the Keepers' characters are living in their closets, they're safe from the Long Arm of the Law. (He has exceptionally long arms, hence the reason we use that phrase. )

There is also a huge network of paths connecting every closet in the world to all these different fantasy worlds, and that's how characters travel back and forth. These are, unsurprisingly, called the Closet Paths.
